Making Sawdust fired pots for STAY HOME exhibition part of London Craft Week 2017. At Simple Shape Studio

Pottery throwing tools made from the off-cuts from furniture maker Sebastian Cox's Studio

The pots are thrown on the wheel using the geometric throwing tools, once dry they are trimmed and burnished smooth.

Waste wood, sawdust and other materials have been wrapped around the bisque fired pots in an attempt to create areas of surface decoration.

The wrapped pots have been put on a bed of sawdust, covered in further sawdust, paper and waste hardwood and set on fire.

The following day the pots are dug from the remaining ash, each pot now has a unique surface pattern.
