Elliott is a design-led potter based in South London. He is interested in creating objects, which utilise simple forms and subtract superfluous detail to create modest yet elegant wares. Primarily, he produces
functional table and homeware, thrown on the wheel.
Colour and materiality are significant aspects of his practice. Mixing stains and oxides into different clay bodies in order to create delicate complementary colour variations within a collection. He enjoys the juxtaposition of surface qualities, which he creates through glazing the inside and creating a smooth or textured unglazed finish on the outside.
Since a recent residency funded by the Craft Potters Association at Guldagergaard Ceramic Research Centre in Denmark the colours, structures and materiality found in nature have become an inspiration
in his practice.
